Senator J. Wellington Wimpy's Health Care Bill

Pollsters like to say their surveys are like a snapshot, limited to the time and the picture frame in which they are taken. What we are seeing in polling on the takeover of health care by the federal government is a consistent opposition by the American people. No major poll shows the people supporting the House or Senate bill. ....

This is just another version of the slogan of J. Wellington Wimpy, the great pal of Popeye the Sailor Man. Older readers will remember Wimpy saying: “I would surely pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.” Was he Senator J. Wellington Wimpy? I would surely give you health care in `14 for your tax revenues today. Hold the mustard!

"Ill gladly pay you Tuesday for a hambuger today..."

That's so outdated.

Today it would be "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today once my government check clears".

Representative Mo Brooks just filed a bill that completely repeals Obamacare:

FR Article post

"Effective as of Dec. 31, 2017, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted," the bill states.

Mo Brooks is a member of The House Freedom Caucus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call Congress at 202-224-3121

Ask your Congress Critter to sign the discharge petition for US Representative Mo Brooks's bill titled, "Obamacare Repeal Act"!!!!!!!!!!!

The way some freepers are carrying on about the Freedom Caucus, I guess they would rather that we had left Eric Cantor in office so that they could have passed Rubio’s amnesty in the summer of 2014 to get the issued off the table as planned to clear the way for Yeb! and there would not have been a President Trump.

Ted Cruz came out yesterday with a simple recipe of what must be done to repeal Obamacare (and the expensive insurance mandates). Importantly, no smoke and mirrors.

http://thefederalistpapers.org/us/ted-cruz-nails-what-gop-must-do-now-to-actually-repeal-obamacare

“First, begin with the 2015 repeal language. Virtually every Republican in Congress voted for that language, and the parliamentarian has already ruled it as permissible. We should begin with that previously approved repeal language as the baseline.”

[H.R. 1436] gives congress two years to work on a replacement that is grounded in real patient-centered, free market principles. It is in committee right now, and may get a discharge petition if enough other congressmen sign on.

Second, Cruz writes, Congress needs to repeal Obamacare’s insurance regulations, which were not included in the original repeal bill due to legislative issues.

“We’ve got to repeal those mandates. The single biggest factor driving popular dissatisfaction with Obamacare is skyrocketing premiums. And the insurance mandates are the biggest factor driving those premiums. If we repeal Obamacare, and leave the insurance mandates in place, the premiums paid by families will remain sky-high. And that’s unacceptable — voters would rightly deem repeal a farce if we don’t actually drive premiums down to where they’re affordable again.”

Third, Congress needs to add the following seven stipulations:

Allow consumers to purchase insurance across state lines.

Expand health savings accounts so that consumers can save on a tax-advantaged basis for more ordinary health insurance expenses.

Change the tax laws to make health insurance portable, so that if you lose you job you don’t lose your health insurance.

Protect continuous coverage. If you have coverage, and you get sick or injured, your health insurance company shouldn’t be able to cancel your policy or jack up your premiums.

Allow small businesses to pool together in association plans to get better rates for their employees.

Allow states to create high-risk pools or pursue other innovative solutions to insure that the most vulnerable among us have access to affordable health care.

Block grant Medicaid to the states.

Were they part of the original bill creating O’Care? Then they should be just as easy to nuke w/ the repeal. Else, what funky BS ‘elevated’ these pieces that makes them require a 2nd run to remove?

Wasn’t the mandate part of O’Care? How is that separate? For now, why not the HHS Sec.?

Where’s a la carte option? Men can pay for maternity, IF they wish. Same w/ ‘mental health’ and addiction. This is the ONE area where Congress’ ‘regulate commerce’ is valid.

How ‘bout Citizens getting the tax breaks\options that employers enjoy. They’re the ones signing up\using (I don’t see IBM in the waiting-room). Employers don’t pay for our car\home insurance. Get the 3rd party OUT OF THE FRIGGIN’ WAY!!

Lastly, I know of NO insurance that DOESN’T go up w/ use....why would this be any different?? Sounds like more govt intervention in the Free Market.
