Team USA rode a LONG homerun by Giancarlo Stanton, a two-run double by Andrew McCutchen, and one of the finest catches you'll ever see by Adam Jones off the bat of Manny Machado to beat the Dominican Republic 6-3.

That was a nice play, and the fan had the class to back up the play and not interfere.

I noticed the batter gave a hat tip to the defensive play too.

The batter (Manny Machado) is the 3rd baseman for the Orioles. The Centerfielder (Adam Jones)is the centerfielder for the Orioles. Manny was just giving his buddy the “tip of the cap” on a nice play.

Whew—glad that’s over. It’s been schizoid watching the Pirates outfield split between opposing teams.
That was a great game. It had edge of seat pressure from beginning to end. Team DR has a wonderful team with great spirit and sportsmanship up to their eyeballs. Team USA is just jam packed with deep talent. Can’t wait for the Japan game.
I will say, however, that the Dominicans looked stunned when the game was over. I think it’s that second inning when they were positioned to blow the game open but did not score.
Jones and Machado are teammates with the Orioles.
Why do I suspect that Machado is going to hear about this?

Physically, he doesn’t look that strong. He sure is though.
Yeah, a bit. Friendly, but Jones will remind him every now and then. It’s how ballplayers are.
Sure, and I think that’s a healthy thing. You joke with the folks you like, and you object with your friends too.
Jones says, “Hey I robbed you.” The other guys says, “I didn’t put it as deep as I could have because I felt sorry for you.”
Everyone has a good laugh.
