NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says they have received 125 leads in the search for missing teen Elizabeth Thomas and have now issued a second nationwide BOLO.

TBI spokesman Josh DeVine says the leads have been "alarmingly low" and at this point the trail has "gone fairly cold." DeVine says Thomas and the former teacher she is in the custody of, Tad Cummins, could be anywhere.

Could you give this an ARTH ping please. The man who did this was her teacher from school. This man is now on the FBI’s top ten wanted for this.

An aside: I was in a busy store in Memphis when they issued the Amber Alert in this case. I heard phones sounding the alarm all over the store, something I’ve never noticed before. It made me realize just how interconnected we are now and how quickly information can travel.

I think as she is 15 it’s legally an abduction. His wife is begging him to turn himself in. Whatever route he’s taking, he’s headed for prison. It’s also reported he’s armed with possibly two handguns so he might not make it to prison.

abduction or runaway?

Good question. Based on info from the TBI, it looks very much like it could be the latter.

This degenerate pre-planned this.

I wonder if her school friends and family had any hints this was happening? Teenagers today are exposed to so much sexual deviancy etc., on TV - nothing seems to be off limits.

IIRC There have been store camera shots of him making purchases at gas stations.

He’ll be found - dead or alive.

Praying for a miracle.

several links and details here:
http://williamsonsource.com/tbi-develops-timeline-for-missing-elizabeth-thomas/

^^^^the TBI has been able to determine Cummins secured a title loan for a personal vehicle and other personal effects several days before his disappearance, netting $4,500 in cash. To that end, the TBI would like to hear from anyone who may have had an interaction with either individual prior to their disappearance.****

“abduction or runaway?”

Not sure but know one thing this dude is beyond mid-life crisis and this child is in danger. She has to be found and quickly or this will not end well.

Do we have a tennessee ping on this forum?

This guy was a teacher, so he’s going to be an easy find. Those that can, do; those that can’t, teach.

netting $4,500 in cash.

That's not going to last very long or get very far. Food and gas should eat all of that up pretty quickly unless he has a destination.

That’s sort of how it sounds to me as well. Doesn’t make him less of a criminal (or pervert), but it’s a different kind of crime, and may make them harder to find.

Anybody remember Mary Kay Letourneau? (Spelling might be bad...) Remember all the bad things that were said about her? Remember the Sh!tstorm she lived through and where she is now?

Just as morals cannot be legislated, neither can a group of people - legislative or otherwise - dictate who a person can love and set penalties for crossing their arbitrary line. I don’t know these people but I do know a man who married a woman 21 years younger than him. They’re happily (?) paying their bills and loving their grandchildren as I type this.

Whatever happens to this couple, he’ll never get a teaching job again and I sincerely hope they end up happy, together or not.

According to the sister-in-law’s Facebook page and news sources, he was reported to school authorities for molesting her on Jan. 22.

On Jan. 25 or 26 it was reported to the board of education’s central office where the alleged kidnapper’s wife is a long time employee.

The girls father was not informed until Jan. 31.

The molestation was not reported to police and the school administrators and board of education allowed Cummings to keep teaching at the school until Feb. 6.

They originally claimed that they suspended him when they found out what he did, but that has proved to be a cover-up.
