I figure if I deny them fruiting their berries at every turn (I’ve pampered, babied, supplicated, begged, hand-wrung over strawberry plants for 10 years) they’ll defy me and bumper crop me?
Cause the reverse has happened every time I try to grow them :)
Give it a try it may work. I do just the opposite by snipping off the runners but I plant in 12 inch squares and the plants are robust in this weird climate. I still have a third of mine to plant because of our crazy wet weather with another week of it to come. We both have serious Cabin Fever...
Seedlings starting to sprout, all except bell peppers and leeks. Started wife’s spices - parsley, fennel, basil and thyme. Will transplant mint in about two weeks.
I’ve been using opaque BJ’s orange juice gallon jugs to fill from my rain barrel for plants and seedlings. After about two years use, I’ve got serious mold inside some of them. I had threw the worst 8 away. Trouble is BJ’s stopped using them and went to a clear bottle. Throw away, clean with baking soda or leave alone?
