For those who are not familiar with Roman. History:
Julius had removed a lot of the power of the various districts and had consolidated it in Rome leading to the Imperial Roman State. The Emperors turned the Roman Senate into nothing more than a city council.
Basically Julius overthrew the Roman Republic and started the slide into the Monarchy. A bad move.

Pres. Jackson narrowly missed assassination attempt near Rotunda in 1835. Harvard prof blew up 2 Senate rooms in 1915. Puerto Rican terrorists shot up House in 1954. Weather underground bombed Senate restroom in 1971. Leftists bombed Senate in 1983. Presidents Carter, Clinton, and Obama pardoned or befriended several or those guilty. The left is dangerous in and around Congress.

Sumner was abolitionist. Brooks was pro slavery. Another example of left on right violence around or in Congress.
Wish ol Preston was still around.
