Walking down a series of rubble-strewn streets. Almost every house pocked with bullet holes, windows shattered and twisted chunks of metal and contorted chassis: the remains of suicide car bombs by ISIS fighters,.
Looks like Detroit
What year is this? Nobody takes pictures in black and white anymore.
Looks like picture of Germany
The article was discussing how BAD this was because homes were destroyed, citizens were killed, etc.
The pictures I posted were of ENGLAND after the NAZIS bombed it.
My point in posting the pictures was..... War is Hell. Why should Mosul be any different than England ?
It is pretty intense urban warfare going on there - lots of Iraqi military and police dying everyday to push out ISIS.
I am frustrated when some FReepers cavalierly dismiss the Iraqi Army, saying things like “they couldn’t punch their way out of a damp paper bag”, or “they will fold like they always do”. Those Iraqis have been going toe to toe with those ISIS maniacs, and winning, for a long time now - through meatgrinders in Tikrit, Fallujah and Mosul.
Yes, we have provided air and artillery support, but thousands of Iraqis have died bravely fighting ISIS - kicking in doors and going room to room, day after day. There will be 100,000 more buildings to clear in Western Mosul - every closet and cabinet, every basement and tunnel a potentially fatal booby trap. The guys taking care of that have my thanks and appreciation.
The ISIS Caliphate is beginning to collapse, thanks to a team effort.
Those are not Mosul
Bottom picture says Hamburg.
You are correct. However, the point is still valid.
See post #7. As someone already pointed out, one picture is of England, the other is from Germany. War is hell, citizens dies, buildings are destroyed. Then and now.
