‘Kong: Skull Island’ Review: My Big Fat Geek Monster Movie
Deadline Hollywood ^ | March 6, 2017 | Pete Hammond

Thankfully not taking itself seriously at all, the latest cinematic incarnation of the King Kong legend, Warner Bros’ Kong: Skull Island, takes the story right back to its roots and leaves it there. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts clearly has an affection for a kind of all-out monster movie mash that is given new life in an A-plus production of a B-movie concept. As I say in my video review (click the link above to watch), this reminded me of the kind of Jules Verne adventures I loved, such as Journey to the Center of the Earth or Mysterious Island, mixed with a dab of Jurassic Park and of course every Kong or Godzilla flick you have seen.

As a fan of the kaiju genre I think I am going to check this out. This movie is to setup Godzilla v. Kong. GO GODZILLA!!!

The last godzirra film was horrible. A constant black screen with monster noises. That’s some great cinematography, let me tell you!!!
I kept checking to see if my tv was going out. Horrible, but par for hollyweird for the last 20+ years.

I think that Toni The Tampon scares me more than King Kong.

Comparison to Peter Jackson’s? That movie had many beautiful touches, but was ruined by ridiculously stupid CGI nonsense, like disgusting, giant bugs and stampeding dinosaurs.

... also, any allegory to the Vietnam war? The poster looks mostly like a Vietnam war poster; it almost seems like they misspelled, “Cong.”

John Reilly doing a Bill Paxton imitation is about the only thing that looks interesting in that one.

I refuse to pay to see any movie starring Samuel L. Jackson:

O’Reilly takes on Samuel L. Jackson’s song on ‘Racist Police’

Samuel L. Jackson wished San Bernadino jihadist killers were white

Samuel L. Jackson tells Muslims America is full of White Supremicists

Pass because the Racist Samuel L. Jackson is in it. Plus, isn’t he in his 70’s? A little old for action movies like this.

Yep. I also thought there was something wrong with my TV or DVD player. But nope. The movie was unwatchable.

Wow, how many Kong movies are they going to make. Seems like the one with Jack Black was just a few years ago. All Hollywood is putting out is sequels, remakes and incredibly boring art house flicks.

It was done perfectly in 1933.

Every sequel (1), remake (2), and imitator has stunk.

And the fact that EVERY car in New York was a 1933 Model A Ford, in four different colors.
