It is an 8 core 16 threads excellent performer according to benchmarks.

So far overclocking not so great..

Intel 's gaming chip i7 7700K beats it on singlethread jobs and most older games.

If flosting point jobs are your major workload, The Bulldozer had problems....

For browsing they are great and the Ryzen should be fantastic.!!!!

So what is your major workload?

I've been very happy with my AMD FX-8350 and FX-990Killer Motherboard for several years. I run lots of virtualized OS' on the 32GB of ram I have installed simultaneously, all seamlessly.

For $149 it's a hell of a CPU. May not compare to an i7 or the new i5's but it's gotten the job done for me reliably for at least 4 years now, probably closer to 5.

I'll be buying a Ryzen 7 tomorrow with a new AM4 Mobo and DDR-4 Memory. All the benchmarks I've seen show it beating the best i7 with the exception of barely getting beat in single-core mode and some old legacy games that I don't play anyway.

Can't wait to get the Ryzen.

BTW my FX-8350 OC's to 4.9Ghz and is stable. Try that with an Intel 4Ghz CPU.

Somone on one of the forums late last night said both Newegg and Amazon had sold out ....mot sure if that is true.

One of the many websites I have been looking at said they had shipped out a million to the major global chains.

That was true seven years ago. But it’s 2017, and AMD has made major strives in improving both the CPU and motherboard chipset.

I haven't seen any benchs on that !

Not that I run any Virtualization...but I did on IBM Mainframes years ago.

AMD was always adequate for home use PCs but anytime I attpted to use them with a Linux mint system, I ran into problems, especially of that system was a laptop. AMDs tend to run hot but on a desktop box you can adjust for that. Less so on a laptop. In addition to overheating, other drivers give issues too like sound, video, and HDMI capabilities.

This year I picked up a used Intel laptop, installed Linux mint and it ran flawlessly right from the beginning. All the function keys work, too for a change.

If my FX-8350 is any indicator, I don't expect any problems with the Ryzen processor. Will be building tomorrow and burning in for a day or so, going to take me a few days to get it fully setup with Virtualization and VM's copied over. It'll be fun I'm sure. I love doing geek things like this....

No it does not. You’ll need to purchase a video card/GPU for your machine.

The APU's are coming in H2.

They will blow the doors of anything that Intel has at the moment!!
