An interesting scenario to contemplate:
Suppose that the mistake had gone the other way, that the “wrong” card handed to Warren Beatty had been for Best Supporting Actor, Mahershala Ali, who was in “Moonlight”.... that Faye Dunaway announces “Moonlight” as the winner for Best Picture, when the actual choice is “La La Land.”
Now imagine the racially tinged uproar, then and since, when it is announced while all the “Moonlight” people are onstage, that the mistake went the other way and that the correct Best Picture is “La La Land.”
ooooh, Hollyweird would never have recovered from the charges of racial bias etc. Would they even have dared to announce the correction? It would have been delicious to see all the liberals put in such a disastrous situation after all the “Oscars too White” drumbeat, etc.
Can Trump pardon the accountants?
