That was James Cameron.

He’s busy doing movies showing giant blue alien Native American cat people.

Oh, I see... I guess it’s kind of a prequel, because he says so.

OK. that explains why I see no plot connections.

The coolest prequel I saw recently was the last “The Thing” (2015) when at the end you see the helicopter taking off and going after the dog- which is the beginning of the previous “The Thing” with Kurt Russel (awesome movie!) Although the movie itself was not nearly as good as the Kurt Russel one- given 20 years of movie technology advances.

That was good but there was no way she could have walked and run the way they had her doing so immediately afterwards. Not like other stuff was hard to believe but they always underestimate stuff like injuries, pain and recovery time. Yeah its just a movie.but consider in aliens when hicks was taken down with some acid, he was out of the fight at that point and he didnt magically recover to run around and fight.

It’s controversial, somewhat. But it is the same universe, and Prometheus happens roughly 30 years before Alien. So you could see it as a prequel in that it is in the universe of Alien and happens 30 years before it. The rest is semantics. I suppose you could say that WWII is a prequel to the Vietnam war because it happened first and involved the US.

I consider it a “prequel” because it is the same universe and happens in that universe ~30 years before Alien did.

The only argument would be about the precision of my use of words. :)

Nope, saw "Resurrection", too. Bad Corporate People create a giant bug, that then eats most all of them. The space pirates were moderately interesting.

Best part of the movie, IMO, was only seen by myself and about a half-dozen other bored moviegoers.

Remember the scene where all of the evil corporate scientist-types were stuck up on the wall so that they couldn't escape? Crucified, sort of?

Buddy of mine stood right up and started singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" at the top of his lungs. Brought the house down. Or, at least as brought down as 6-8 people could bring it..

“Nor could I understand why the giant alien hated them”

SPOILERS—

Well, I’m afraid that it’s probably allegorical. Remember how they kept the theme of Shaw’s Christian belief going throughout the film. In my mind, I know that almost all of these Hollywood types hate the whole concept of a creator god and the subsequent failure and “fall” of man. In the Bible, man has sinned against God and thereby came under judgement. Could it be that the engineer, upon seeing the humans challenging him by their very presence, took it upon himself to “judge” the humans. IOW, this could be a sneaky way for the writer/producer/director to paint “God” in a bad light, make God look vindictive and petty.

Another theory: When Weyland was having David ask the engineer those questions at the end of the film, the engineer looked at David and then felt the top of his head, then took off David’s head and attacked the humans. Could it be that the engineer detected that David was an android and took offense to the fact the the humans had figured out how to create some form of life?

There is a scene in the, “Extras,” where Halloway says, “I want to crush all man made religion.”
Might have something to do with it.
I have no idea if they’re going to incorporate the religion plot with Covenant, though.
I guess we’ll see.
