Golf is the last man’s sport. Everything else is unwatchable on TV.

Keep in mind that this is based on the measuring stick of my MarineBrat father, who considered a man who is not a gentleman to be unworthy.

This was follows an interview of Rory who was criticized for golfing with Trump last month at his resort. The PGA removed a tournament from Trump’s and is playing it this week in Mexico. Frankly, I wrote off the leadership of the PGA for that political move and suggested to my Congressman that someone should look into their non tax status as this was a political move. Of course, no comment came back.

Meanwhile, love the Donald’s retort to the PGA: make sure you have your kidnapping insurance paid up. While he was cavalier with his comment, I bet he internally seethed over that move and I hope he gets the last laugh.

Thanks. I like to think so. He joined the Marines on his 17th birthday in 42. Got out after WWII for a while, then went back in for Korea and stayed in through Vietnam. Myself and most of my siblings were born on various Marine/Navy/Army bases. We’re a Marine family.

Dad had little patience for men who did not embrace their honored role as gentlemen and mentors. And about the last place you see that on TV sports today is in golf. He was never a golfer, but I know he would have appreciated it, as do I.

I just wish the galleries would stop their crass screaming whenever someone hits the ball. The idiots sound like women’s tennis nowadays.

Thank you.
I would have liked to have known your pop.
Not many served during all 3 wars and those that did, a good portion seem to be Marines.

Thanks, and thank you for your service!

WWII Dad was in Japanese occupation force. I’ve got an Arisaka Type 99 rifle in my closet that he brought home.

Korea he was remote air traffic control, apparently operating a truck mounted radar and air traffic control equipment. Not sure what all they did there, but his unit was awarded the Navy Presidential Unit Citation.

Vietnam he was in early 65 at Chulai, setting up the air traffic control system as they built the air base.

Not sure of what happened there, but apparently some chemical got him and they medivac’d him all the way to Philadelphia where they removed 1/2 of his stomach. He got very skinny and his health was poor for the rest of his life, though he refused to quit the Marines.

He finished up as air traffic control instructor at GLYNCO Georgia through December 69.

I remember being crushed at 18 when the USMC made me turn in my ID card. The family was kicking me out. :) I have lots of siblings, and all of us identify as Marine Brats!
