The world of sports was the perfect place to ignite a new conversation about race in our society.

WOW. On the NFL website, no less. They have officially grasped this bottle of nitroglycerine with both hands and are running with it.

That was the essential dynamic that gave this movement a heartbeat and allowed so many people to feel comfortable raising their own voices.

I think Mr. Chadiha has exhausted his overdraft of cliches.

Just for fun, a still-partial list of cliches from this writer who is absolutely stealing his salary or fee from the NFL.

follow his lead
bringing attention to
dialogue and debate
a new conversation about race in our society
we live in a country that’s become so divided
secular religion
the person who lit the fuse
take a stand around issues of social and political relevance*
You can’t just stand silent as these circumstances are evolving and developing*
use that tremendous megaphone*
pain that plagues his own family
Ali was buried as a saint (he was?!?!)
on the right side of history

*to be accurate, these marked lines are from quotes in the piece from Harry Edwards, a charlatan and a race hustler hiding behind his guilt-trip Stanford (!) tenure. He is the so-called intellectual face of black activism who has been plunking the same tune out on his one-string guitar since the 60s.
