Don’t kill the biggest hogs for eating. The males are too gamey. The best are about 100 to 150 pounds. It helps if they are not chased or riled before being killed.

Wild hog tastes much better than store bought pork but be sure it is cooked done. Fried or baked pork chops, smoked shoulders and hams, and great sausage, but i’ve never had bacon. I don’t think wild hogs have much bacon.

Good luck!

TAC-12 Shotgun

Those things are pricey. It looks like it's made with a few Saiga parts and the rest they manufacture themselves.

I have been wanting to go after hog for a long time with my old Trapdoor. Am using traditional loads for it and I have gotten good enough to drop deer sized targets at 300 yards over open sights. Opinions?

I would think a Trapdoor (45-70) would be an excellent hog gun.

Yeah it’s a horrible idea...birds, coyotes, critters will eat the carcases and they’ll bleed, too!

So, are they only going to poison fetid meat?

Turkey are omnivores , just like hogs.

Put a $100 bounty on hog heads, the problem WILL go away.

If the state tries to manage the problem, they will spend several times this amount per dead hog.
