around where i live- there are always ‘mysterious’ loud pops in the night- so we don’t have much of a problem with coyotes- although this year there seemed to be an explosion of them for some reason- owls too- I’m thinking the mice population must have been higher this year- Did see two coyotes walking right down through town- but not so much lately-

Nother thing we have is foxes- got a resident fox that has litter every year- goes around to various houses for scraps that people throw out (Folks throw left overs out in woods or compost piles- so it provides regular source of food for them) Seen them walking up and down the street many nights- they stick to a schedule- it’s pretty amusing to watch how closely they stick to the schedule-

Head two foxes fighting awhile back- oh my word- talk about hair raising noises! At first I thought it sounded like a person getting the tar wailed out of them- - sounded just like screaming-

But the granddaddy of weird noises goes to raccoons- Heard two fighting over some food I guess- and it sounded like 5 different animals- it was the weirdest sounds I’d ever heard come from an animal-

Sounded like pigs grunting, then baboons fighting- then like a cougar growling- then like dogs yipping- and finally like a bear growling and clapping their teeth together

If i hadn’t known any better I’da thought it was some dang chupacabra or something-

We’ve had the raccoon fight. Until you turn a light on them and see two (or five) raccoons fighting, you’re right, it sounds like humans in a death match.

I have noticed that animals– skunks, coyote, deer– do seem to stick to a schedule, more or less. It’s like that old cartoon of the animals punching a time clock.

Years ago before we had the coyotes we had a cat problem– a neighbor was feeding strays and they were multiplying like rabbits. We noticed they’d worn paths through the yard and forest... it was comical in a way, sort of like a feline highway.

That looks like no coyote I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen lots.

And even if it was. What’s so hair-raising about it? It’s a coyote.

The raccoons and bobcats and coyotes with distemper or rabies are fearless. Most critters don’t approach humans unless they are sick or triggered.

Do you really know how to distinguish a Raccoon from a Chupacabra?

The coyote chased the doctor outside for about 10 feet until a squirrel distracted it

I have friends just like that.

Yup, could be a mix. My game cameras picked up an odd looking coyote. It runs by itself and acts like a dog. It’s all over the place. It does not seem to be afraid like a typical coyote. It seems to have some coyote markings.

animals in early stages of rabies can act quite strange, showing no fear too- but it didn’t really look like it was acting aggressively or anything- not sure how early rabies animals act, whether they are aggressive yet or not- A couple of months ago I spotted a coyote run across a road- I drover over to the driveway it ran up and the thing stood there looking at me- then started moving towards me, stopped, took a dump- stood there for awhile longer- then walked off- during broad daylight- it was just action weird- showed no fear-

If you’ve ever heard a fisher screaming in the woods, you’d swear someone was being murdered.

I’ve heard either fischer or bobcat many times- both of which make horrendous sounds-

a ‘dying rabbit’ mechanical scream (To draw in coyotes durign huntign season that some hunters use) is also very eery
