I believe this practice (blind audition) was deemed racist in some cities because the resulting musicians weren’t “of color”.
Pink, Jack White, and Peter Green, among others, are pleased.
This is the very definition of racial discrimination...oh wait only white people can be racist.

I remember he pulled a gun when ordinary people were using his bathroom. I can only imagine how he would feel about transgenders in his bathroom!

This will get interesting when they run out of true black composers and have to use rap music which has no melody line or counter melody, or in many cases, no marchable rhythm. The lead instruments like brass and woodwinds, that normally carry the melody and counter melody, will be backstage, or on the sidelines, during the performances of these charts. And the audiences will probably wander out to the snack bar and wait for the rhythm drum line to finish. Crickets upon final noise.
But if they are going to tacit people, then that could cut back on scholarships, save money to buy more drums and a few guitars. They’ll call it modernization. I call it stupidity and racism.

Pure virtue-signalling. They could have done this without mentioning it and nobody would have cared or noticed. There’s plenty of music written by women and people of color.
