A New Mexico lawmaker wants to make the state's relationship with the green chile cheeseburger official.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that Rep. Matthew McQueen, D-Galisteo, is sponsoring a bill that would name the green chile cheeseburger the state's official burger.

It’s nice to see that there is at least ONE politician in this country that knows what the hell he is doing.
Finally, a democrat who understands the limit of his legislative importance.
And it seems like a good idea to me.

This means they need a part time legislature because they have too much time to do things like this.
This is the 60 day session, alternates with a 30 day one. Don’t underestimate New Mexico politicians ability to pack much silliness into a short window.
That said, green chile cheeseburgers are serious business here.
tbw2 isn’t acquainted with the sublime qualities of the Hatch chile or he would not object to this important bill.
Green chile’s from Hatch are a gift from heaven.
I get mine from Sichler Farms in Los Lunas, the smell of roasting chiles is divine.
Have not lived in the state since 1962, but they have bigger problems lawmakers could be dealing with than selecting a state burger.
Seriously.

I like the Northern New Mexico take on Mexican food best. Well, except for our peculiar Colorado green chile, that is usually more yellow than green. You just have to taste it; I can't explain it.
Colorado should stick to weed... leave the chile to us. ;)
