Honda's Newest Motorcycle Technology Won't Tip Over At Low Speeds
PowerNation ^ | 14 Feb 2017

Honda's latest motorcycle technology, Honda Riding Assists, helps to prevent the bike from falling over at low speeds. A drive by wire system operates the front steering fork, which also extends out at low speeds to alter the bike's trail length. By electronically turning the front wheel left or right, the bike maintains its upright balance.

I think this is on my Realryder spin bike!

I can lean over about 20 degrees, and not fall!

Haven't yet anyways?

Neat. I wouldn’t mind one of these, either:

Yep. That’s exactly what I need. A computer in control of the steering. Nothing could ever go wrong with that.

Leave it to the Japanese to think out of the box. So simple, basic law of gravity as it affects a two wheeled vehicle.

What does it do when you have to lean into a curve?

My wife, bless her heart, never understood how to ride as a passenger. When I’d take a corner, she’d lean the opposite way.

It only activates a low speeds. I will pass on it though, if it activates in a turn at higher speeds in order to keep you upright you are going off the road or worse, head on into a car or truck.

First gear (Honda Honda) it’s alright (faster faster)
Second gear (little Honda Honda) I lean right (faster faster)
Third gear (Honda Honda) hang on tight (faster faster)
Faster it’s alright

It’s not a big motorcycle
Just a groovy little motorbike...

Run engine faster than idle. Slip clutch to control speed. Slightly drag rear brake. Look where you want to go. Don’t touch front brake. Practice. I rode for years before someone showed me how to go slow.

Turning at speed isn't caused by leaning.

It's caused by counter steering. Next time ya go into a sweeper notice which hand pushes, and which one pulls. You actually turn the wheel right to go left, that's what makes you lean, riding on a smaller area back and off the center of the front wheel.

Motorcycles are dangerous enough. If you are that bad at controlling your machine you really have no business on a street or road bike. If you are concentrating on controlling that much you’ll miss the 10,000 life safety hazards that come at you mile after mile.
