When my daughter was about a year-and-a-half old, we were in the Gaspe peninsula for Christmas. She got an ear infection. I had to drive her to the only open Hospital which was quite a distance. We sat in the waiting room from 10 a.m. until about 7 p.m. maybe later.
She was in a lot of pain, was crying, fussing etcetera. Finally I went up to the nurses station and I said no one has been called for the past two hours at least. I was told the doctor is at dinner.
I said are you telling me but there are no other doctors that are available to see patients? Then I turned around to the room and said to everyone in the waiting room, in my very bad French, why do you put up with this? It’s absurd!
Suffice it to say my daughter was seen within about 15 minutes.
It’s crappy because Canadians put up with it.
