We spend time in the Virginia mountains adjacent to Bath County. A crime such as this is highly unusual and I suspect drugs or mental illness may be the underlying cause.
Sounds like generational issues. Her paternal grandparents and father had 3 different surnames between them, none of which matched the dead child. Strangely enough, her maternal grandparents seemed to still be married.
