Just what DOES "AGAIN" mean to you ?

For me, it is memories from MY past and how life was ... for me ... in the past ... in America.

I don't want doo wop (playlist) to disappear

I’ve heard some liberal claptrap along the lines of:

1. To make America great again, we would have to turn back the clock to the ‘50s, a time of Jim Crow laws, gays in the closet, and mom in the kitchen.

2. America is still great, so we don’t have to make America great AGAIN.

3. America was never “great” as such, so we need to get off our high horse about this subject. America is not greater than other countries so we shouldn’t talk in these terms.

Hate t'bust yer bubble dilly, but America was built by an individualism that never existed in human society before and we WERE exceptional during various times

What I've posted is a reflection of one of those times.

To me it means bringing back our culture, where we treated each other with respect and race wasn’t used to measure every thought. Bring back the America that went to church and was charitable. The America where we ruled ourselves with a smaller government that wasn’t bleeding money and ignoring the laws because some politicians don’t like certain laws.

Making AMERICA great again would mean junior high and high school students would feel safe walking to the nearest shopping center (as they were once called here in Dallas). No matter the time of day, one could walk a short trip from home to a store feeling safe. If not walk, ride your bike. Even after dark, street lamps lit up the sidewalk and there were no boogeymen about. Neighborhood kids would sit out front on the lawn playing music, talking, watching night fall. Travel to Love Field and picnic across the street at Bachman Lake then lie on a quilt and watch the stars overhead and plane landing or taking off. Those were a rush. Camping as a family in America’s National Parks. No need for a weapon. Persons were different then, we’d have marshmallows, hot dogs and fish. Life was slower, less stressful and more enjoyable.

Does this help? It certainly helps to reminisce as that is about all that remains of those days.

Remember when we didn't have sluts performing during Super Bowl halftimes? That's what.

Of course it helps.

I got sidetracked tonight into doo wop and I realized ... MY music was all about love found, lost and a fair amount of male/female sex (well ... until Little Richard got promoted)

The point is that music plays as huge a part in the formation of thought processes as does being in school all day five days a week.

I never had (until '65 when I joined the Army) a bit of anti-American, nigga this n' that, take a walk on the wild side .. etc., until I got out in '68.

It was culture shock to me, but I was 20 and a lot of basic thought patterns had already taken root.

Those patterns are still there.

I joined The Boston Crusaders Drum Corps in part because half time programs were so COOL drawing pictures and animations all the while playing music.

It fit in with my love of doo wop (I still have a gettin' falsetto at 69)

In that book of memories, by all means place your memories of your favorite drive in theater. Soon no one walking this planet will know what these were. All they know is multi screen cinemas and small chairs in which one never finds comfort. Your first car is always a cherished memory. Little things...Favorite hang out (Prince of Burgers; Kellers) favorite store to browse the local five and dime - M E MOSES. And even school supplies which were purchased at Rexall or Skillerns each year and you were handed a coupon for a BIG SHAKE or similar treat. Today it’s off to WalMart for any school supplies and no treat I might add.

We had a bookmobile visit the local shopping center and the Dallas Library stocked this with books of all types. It would visit IIRC about every two or three weeks.

From NY?

Not the Skyliners ?

Thank you, btw.

Drum corps is not what we remember and perhaps will never be again.
