A 21-year-old man and 17-year-old woman are accused of using the dating website Plenty Of Fish to lure a man to a St. Roch park and then rob him at gunpoint, according to New Orleans police.

Jarius Smith and Oliska McNeil were arrested and booked into the Orleans Justice Center jail Wednesday (Feb. 1) with armed robbery.

Detectives continue investigating to see if the duo has been involved in similar cases reported in the NOPD's 7th District, which includes a large swath of New Orleans East.

The pair is charged in a robbery that occurred nearly two weeks ago, according to the NOPD. In that robbery, the victim arrived to St. Roch Park around 11:35 p.m. Jan. 21 to meet McNeil whom he had met on the Plenty Of Fish website.

McNeil approached the victim's vehicle with Smith, whom she introduced as her cousin. She then asked the victim if he could drop her cousin off at a nearby location, the NOPD said.

The St Roch/St Claude area ( like most of N.O.) is a crime ridden ghetto despite the ‘artsy’ Seattle types who live there in denial. It was dangerous when I grew up there many moons ago and anyone who sets foot there now is asking for victimhood.

Robbery should carry 15 years minimum for first offense. Bet it would curb these evil twits. Plenty of stupid to go around in this case.

A “date” that starts after 11 PM is most likely not a date in the conventional sense.

Sounds like a date in the hourly sense.

Either that or possibly some sort of drug deal. Neither of which I’d consider a conventional date.

They should correct it... a 17 year old girl.
The young man should also be charged with statutory rape of a minor, and if there such a thing, of leading her to commit a crime.
