Little reported was that 100 Gurkhas were landed on the mainland of Argentina, armed with only their legendary knives. There were over 1,000 Argentina soldiers with rifles and the Gurkhas started running towards the Argentinian soldiers.
The soldiers dropped their armaments and fled the Gurkhas.
I had the pleasure to meet some of those very Gurkhas. During the Falkland War, my Chief of Staff was a Navy Captain who had just left serving 5-years in the DAO Argentina. He came out one day with tears in his eyes as he read the classified causality - he knew every single one of the Argentinian Air Force officers killed in the air campaign, many of the others as well. The only time I ever saw that captain as less than, God on this Deck!”.
