Germany began sending tanks and other equipment to Lithuania on Tuesday as part of a NATO mission to beef up the defense of eastern Europe and send a signal of resolve to Russia, which has denounced the build-up as an act of aggression.

The German army command said it was sending about 200 vehicles, including 30 tanks, by train to Lithuania along with 450 troops, the first of whom arrived last week. The transports would continue until late February.

Will there be actual machine guns mounted on the vehicles, or are they still using painted broom sticks?

Berlin to Warsaw on one tank.

One of the best Clarkson Top Gear segments.

Wonder if the Germans will spring for ordnance too? They were using brooms for training.

Yet another needless provocation trying to create a world war with Russia.

“Needless provocation of Russia.”

You call it a needless provocation, I call it a response to a needless provocation.

This is a joke. In two weeks the Bundes buddies will use up all their overtime hours and have to go back to Germany like they had to leave the exercise in Norway before it ended earlier this year. The Russians know that also.

Russia is not afraid of these 30 tanks. They have over 800 tanks in their Kaliningrad exclave alone. I’d rather call that a provocation.

Fact of the matter is if Russia wanted to, they could role through the Baltic states (and pretty much any other old Warsaw Pact Nation)before NATO and the EU knew what hit them and could lift a finger to stop them.

How come they don’t have the political will to defend their own borders but they aspire to defend the Lithuanian border with Russia? Weird.

Some of these articles are very miss leading. German tanks were in Norway when I was there with the Corps. The Germans participate in NATO exercises.

We, and NATO, need to pull everything back from the Russia Federation’s border.
