Microsoft joins Amazon in lawsuit over Trump's immigration ban ("Happy to testify" against it)

Tech companies are joining forces with the Washington state government to fight against Donald Trump’s recent immigration-related executive order. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a lawsuit today against Trump’s order, which bars legal immigrants and refugees from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the US and bans Syrian refugees indefinitely.

Now, at least three tech companies — Microsoft, Amazon, and Expedia — are joining that legal fight. A Microsoft spokesman told Reuters that the company is providing information about the effect of the order in order to "be supportive." They also would "be happy to testify further if needed."

Both Amazon and Expedia are also preparing statements that demonstrate the order’s negative impact on their business. In an email to employees, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos wrote that the company’s legal team "has prepared a declaration of support for the Washington State Attorney General who will be filing suit against the order." They are considering other legal options, as well. Expedia hasn’t publicly released its statement but Ferguson cited the company’s help in a press release.

The lawsuit will attempt to prove the immigration ban is unconstitutional...

Gee I’m sure all those software engineers from Somalia and Yemen are an incredible. The Iranians of coarse wouldn’t take any information on Microsoft home with them either.

It’s not limited to customer support. There are far more fuzzy-headed foreigners than longtime citizens working there.

Good question. The answer is probably buried somewhere in the HR Department and inaccessible.

I think I know only one person left there. Everyone else has been forced out by the incoming foreigners. Cost cutting was always the excuse for forcing Americans out.

No surprise with MS. I have a very long ban list but there may only be half a dozen max that can’t easily be avoided, MS being one. Still, not bad out of 30 pages.

That’s the thing: they don’t want Americans. They want cheap furriners.

"Just cancelled Prime - I’ll need an intervention, but I will adapt."

Good for you! I went all the way: didn't renew Prime, then Bezos did something else stupid so I closed my Amazon account entirely. Finished off with cancelling my Amazon Rewards VISA.

Just felt like the right thing to do, considering how wretched The WaPo has been, plus this latest attack on President Trump --and he's out there battling these corporate gangs by himself.

I'm with you, Mr. President!
