By the way, Duane Allman is not only credited on Layla, he is acknowledged on the whole
Derek and the Dominos: Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs album and is regarded as a member of the
Dominos band.
The original point, that he (not Gregg) was a sessions player on many fine performances both credited and uncredited, remains true.

That was Duane, he did a lot of session work and was brought in to play off Eric Clapton.
