“I see for best actress Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins

I can just imagine the political lecture we’ll get from her if she wins.”

That is exactly why she will win. Two reasons really.

One, because Trump called he overrated, so to stick it to Trump and pprove him wrong, they will give her another Oscar.

Secondly, she effectively captures what Hollywood thinks of themselves as the better class of citizens in this nation who knows better then rest of those “red state folks” so the must lecture and teach us the way. Meryl Streep has emerged as the primary spokesperson for this group of people. So she will get an Oscar so there will be an large audience for her teach and set straight.

Hidden Figures (or Hidden Fences as Jenna Bush Hager unforgiveably called it and profusely and tearfully apologized) is the hands down favorite so that the Hollywood lefties can feel good about themselves again, after last year’s debacle.

Will the Oscars be a 3 1/2 Hour long Trump bashing session??? Will all the jokes told be funny only to liberals???

Will everything be linked somehow to Trump destroying the world as we know it? For example, the movie about the black women mathematicians at NASA during the Jim Crow era—will we be lectured that Trump wants to send Imus back to the days of segregation???

I totally understand your POV on this; and, I will say, that for the majority of my life I have never really liked Meryl Streep's acting (or politics). That aside, hubby and I were bored on a weekend evening and the only movie I thought I could sit through was Florence Foster Jenkins.

About half way thru the film, my hubby says out loud; "oh, just give her the oscar". She really was terrific in this part. It pains me to say so.

LaLa Land is going to sweep. I really wish Hacksaw Ridge would win but it won’t. I saw Fences and found it so boring. Yes Viola and Denzel were outstanding in it but the story was very boring.

I also wouldn’t mind Lion winning. I didn’t see it but I think the story is fascinating.

Yep, Ruth Negga, Loving, will win. Of course, it was a flop because nobody went to see it, but “Oscars be so White”. (Raises black power fist in the air).

Florence Foster Jenkins has made 27 million dollars. Total box office failure. Typical Merryl Streep flop.

Hacksaw Ridge is an oscar worthy movie but will not win because it’s a Mel Gibson movie.

Agreed. I would add that it also has the fact that it is about a brave and nobel man living his faith. IOW's, a positive portrayal of a religious person. In Hollywood, not allowed.

Now, I’d be cool with Denzel getting Best Actor.

Like I’ve been saying, if you watch a Hollywood movie, you might as well write a check to the DNC, it’s the same thing.

‘Hacksaw Ridge’ is supposed to be pretty good, from what I hear...

Pretty good is a very big understatement. It is amazing. I saw it 2 times and would see it again tomorrow. Seriously get to that movie ASAP.

Never mind I see a nomination in cinematography so they just didn’t get the nod. Damn shame.

You know the Oscar host is going to be walking on eggshells to make sure they pronounce her name properly.

I think Meryl Streep is good at her craft.

Just wish they’d be focused on the event and not lecture us little people who buy the movies tickets or other media that pay them big bucks.
