Please remind me the specifics of Bradley Manning's conviction. I seem to remember there were various charges and that it wasn't the release of the single video purporting to show Apache pilots killing unarmed people, as the press seems to make it out. Weren't there other security breeches? Didn't he release info that resulted in harm to US personnel and Iraqis aided the US?
Any links to accurate sources is appreciated.
Wasn’t he the leaker of the diplomatic cables as well?
Not sure what the charges were under which he was convicted, but if I recall correctly, he leaked thousands of documents of various classification levels.
Can anyone tell me when we stopped executing spies and traitors?
Thanks.

On July 30, 2013, Judge Lind issued her findings regarding the charges. Manning was acquitted of aiding the enemy by knowingly giving out intelligence through indirect means, and was convicted of 19 of the 21 or 22 specified charges, including theft and six counts of espionage. The hearing on sentencing began on July 31, 2013. Manning initially faced a maximum sentence of as much as 136 years’ imprisonment. This was subsequently reduced to 90 years after the defense successfully filed a motion to merge some of the 20 counts that Manning was being charged with on the grounds that they overlapped.
He gave classified info over to the press. This happens all the time.
Literally, WWII, I think: Herbert Hans Haupt, born in Germany, son of naturalized citizens.
Figuratively, when the combination of the women’s vote and the “progressive” (communist) influence made executing traitors - like the death penalty generally - just not nice, and therefore relegated to the trash heap of theoretical sentences that somehow never get used anymore.
For the same reasons, we no longer enforce sedition laws - and we therefore have more sedition than ever.
Could be. Except for the Rosenburgs and one other guy, you might be right.
