U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown said Friday she'll work to ensure the transfer of Ammon Bundy and Ryan Payne from Nevada to testify at next month's trial of seven defendants charged in the takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

"I'm convinced it would be error for the court not to facilitate them as witnesses," the judge said.

But Brown wants both Bundy and Payne, who face federal prosecution in Nevada this spring, to personally consent to their brief transfer. She also wants their assurances that they won't argue that the move will hurt their ability to prepare for their upcoming Nevada trial.

The second trial of refuge occupiers is set for Feb. 14 in Portland. Seven people face federal conspiracy and weapons charges, as well as recently filed misdemeanor charges, in the 41-day takeover of the federal bird sancturary in eastern Oregon.....

While the change came to Washington last Friday, the wheels of the federal court system continued to turn in Oregon for the trial of seven more people accused on the Oregon Standoff protest last year.

Even though seven defendants considered 'leaders' were acquitted in the first trial, the Obama Justice Department's prosecution of other protestors was continuing.

Any news on the Federal Marshalls that attacked the Bundy lawyer in the courtroom?

They need to go to prison for that. It was wrong what they did.

Im still loving the 3 month, after the fact, against the judges direct verbal orders, dive tackle the defense lawyer in the courtroom, misdemeanor charges. I sure am glad he hasnt been pulled over for a busted tail light and shot dead in a snowy ditch since then.

They’re planning to put Mumford on trial (the defense lawyer) using a federal prosecutor and federal judge from Washington state.
