I remember the Victorian Jam. Man, that was some boring music.

Mr Jeffries said the discovery had helped archaeologists learn more about "the tastes and palates of the Victorians".

If it included Mushroom Catsup we'd probably rather not know.

bottles of Mushroom Catsup, Piccalilli pots and and jars for jam and marmalade, were found in a large cistern... the cistern would have been used to power steam engines to run the factory

Has me thinking of the way the Beverly Hillbillies used Granny's corn squeezings to fuel their truck.

Probably past their “sell-by” date.
Oh I guess they didn’t worry about such things in the good ole days!

The author failed to say if the jars were full or if they were factory rejects. Either way, why would they have gone to the trouble putting a label on if they were to be discarded before sale? What will become of them now? What else was down there? BTW, a vault and a cistern are two different things. More history on the canning company would have been nice. Too many questions and not enough answers.

I’ll be waiting for the big fruitcake find. Where all the early fruitcakes went that nobody dared eat.
