Around 1973 I remember my father saying, “I think pizza is on it's way out. I think everybody’s tried it and they're ready to get back to normal food”. Dad was a farm boy and could not understand why beef stew, rather than pizza, was not the order of the day.

Of course Dad had his moments of wisdom too: Regarding Walter Cronkite one night when Walter was being particularly critical of Nixon, “I’VE HAD ENOUGH. CRONKITE IS NOTHING BUT A G**D*** COMMUNIST!”
