Have no doubts about it, what was a strong Conservative movement begun by Reagan was hijacked by petty, small minded, people who see themselves as the only aristocrats who can lead the unwashed massed to a proper accommodation with the democrat fascists.
These people all constantly contradict the values, rules of "polite society", and sense of fair play, they claim to be defending which is why no one can name anything this crowd of bloated ego political whores has managed to conserve.
