Fabric softener is a waste of money and it can reduce the absorbency of towels.

It has it use, like I said in winter it lowers static cling.

Exactly correct, Timpanagos. Fabric softener ruins towels.
It should also never be used on high-tech athletic breathable fabrics.
To be fair, I have wondered why it is even still marketed.
