According to the following article by someone on the scene, Biden was told over and over again that the truck driver was drunk. But there was no proof. There was no breathalyzer or blood test done.

Regardless of “proof”, Biden should have been circumspect in throwing around those kind of accusations. If the police suspected that the truck driver was drunk, especially given that he had just killed a Senator’s wife and child, I doubt that the truck driver would have gotten the Chappaquiddick treatment, seeing how the roles and status were completely reversed.
I find Biden’s use of that event both inappropriate and opportunistic.
There must have been insurance claims on both sides. What was the legal disposition of the case? Did Biden’s insurance company pay for damage to the truck, of vice versa? She did cross against a stop sign.
