$269 isn’t obscene even for a traditional watch.

• Parmigiani Tonda Quator. Price: $32,800.
• Seiko Presage Automatic 60th Anniversary Edition. Price: $1,100 (A Bargain!)
• Moritz Grossmann Atum Pure M ‘Mesh Dial’ Watch. Price: $13,482
• Chopard Imperiale Joaillerie High Jewelry Watches. Price:$162,790

All but the Seiko is pretty much out of my price range at the moment, but I really do like the looks of the Mesh Dial one.

If I was looking to spend that much on a watch just give me a big, old chunky, billet aluminum diving watch with a black face, Tag Heuer or maybe you could find an old reconditioned Rolex Daytona for that, probably not, they were $2,800.00 reconditioned 20 years ago, but worth a check. They hold their value if maintained so it’s not money thrown down the drain on depreciation like most baubles and doodads.
