OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York couple was horrified when a UPS delivery that they thought was a Christmas present turned out to be an assault rifle.
Newsday reports (http://nwsdy.li/2gI9lsO ) that Joel Berman opened the keyboard-sized case in front of his wife and 6-year-old granddaughter Wednesday night in Oceanside, on Long Island.

How come that never happens to me?
Christmas!!!
I would have kept it.
9/10’ths....
I would guess this was a delivery problem rather than legal problem. Although it turned into a legal problem.
Just say thank you Santa Clause!
Just shutup and shoot, shoot, shoot.....
You’ll blow your head off kid!!!
Just shutup and shoot, shoot, shoot.....
The only thing which would bother me is knowing I could not keep it.
Wonder what it was. Assault Rifle can mean anything.
WOW, there really is a Santa!!!
I would have returned it to its rightful owner without a peep to anyone.
“Wow! Now we can take out those stupid Bumpus dogs, Dad.”
If the parents are fainting over this, they can just send that rifle to me-I promise to give it a good home-exercise at the range and a warm cabinet to live in...
Little grandaughter says “Cool!”, before she is quickly ushered out of the room. If she was the typical 6 y/o girl of today, she got on her phone and told all her best friends about it.
Probably a nerf gun.
How come I never got these good things for Christmas!
my B.I.L. had sent some stuff to me packed in a Bushmaster box. (He worked for Bushmaster and should have known - “no markings”)
Nobody was home, so they left it with the neighbors.
neighbors’ wife freaked an called the cops.
My wife gets home first. Cop “makes” her open the box in front of him.
Wife and I had a discussion that next time, call me and make ‘em get a warrant.
So what’s the problem..I would LOVE TO get a rifle for Christmas..lucky kid
