Manatee

A neighbor helping to clean a vacated mobile home discovered a grenade strapped to a package with a highly flammable substance Saturday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The device was removed safely, and no injuries were reported.

The 82-year-old resident of the mobile home in K & K Mobile Home Park, 4918 14th St. W., Bradenton, had moved out on Thursday, when his 56-year-old son came and took him back to Lufkin, Texas, with him, according to a news release.

Not a bad move.

When the ATF kicks is your front on a no knock, no warrant seach for a granade, the last place they look is the oven.

Also, gas from an unlit stove burner was filling the trailer.

Sounds like the object was to blow up the trailer after a suitable delay. The neighbor got their too soon. Or maybe the son called her, not knowing what the old man had planted.

Sounds like they decided that the best thing to do with the abandoned trailer was to collect insurance on it.

In a grenade holder, of course.

Would one place a grenade in a muffin tin before putting it in the oven? A cookie sheet would never do. A roasting pan along with some fresh shallots?

Damn, skippy. You gotta turn those things in AFTER deployment.

Heck of a statement though:

“Take me from my home of umpteen years, why, I’ll show THEM.”
