'Jeopardy!' contestant dies of cancer week before episode airs

A “Jeopardy!” episode airing next week has taken an emotional turn after one of its contestants, Cindy Stowell, died of cancer at the age of 41 on Monday. Stowell, a science-content developer from Austin, Texas, taped the quiz show back in August, and the episode is set to premiere on Dec. 13, a “Jeopardy!” spokesperson confirmed. This marks the first posthumous airing of a contestant’s appearance. “When Cindy Stowell taped her appearance on ‘Jeopardy!,’ she had Stage IV cancer. Competing on ‘Jeopardy!’ was a lifelong dream for Cindy, and we’re glad she was able to do so,” said host Alex Trebek in a statement provided to The Post. “Sadly, Cindy died on Dec. 5. All of us at ‘Jeopardy!’ offer our condolences and best wishes to her family and friends.”

Although I didn’t know her personally she and I have a mutual friend, a guy who was instrumental in getting her a bit fast tracked through the Jeopardy qualification process. The “jokes” here aren’t really all that clever.

I watch the show whenever I can find a bootleg online.
This one may be too sad to see. Cancer is just awful.
I hope she at least did as well as she wanted.

I read them...they were as bad as yours.
I know the jokes wrote themselves on this and they were easy, but it’s bad form to make them to a woman who died a painful death through no fault of her own.
The Darwin Award winners get what they deserve, this poor lady didn’t earn her fate.

It is nice she got to compete.
I have watched Jeopardy since Art Fleming was the host and they used mechanical boxes which they rotated by hand behind the board.
I still do OK but every now and then there is an answer that I not only don’t know, I have no idea what they are even talking about.
