It is unclear to me from the narrative just who constitutes the “victim” in this event. The guy who got pinned had a gun. It does not say that he threatened anyone. The other character on seeing the gun attacked the one with the gun and got shot for his trouble. The fellow with the holes in his body did not call police.

The writer refers to the Pontiac driver as the (shooting) victim:

"The victim described the suspected shooter as age 20 to 30, about six feet tall, about 200 pounds and clad in all black, including a black bandana."

Hmm. Something seems to be missing from the description.
