If you have not read Democracy in America by de Toqueville, It is excellent. Not a fast read, though.

“Growing Up”, by Russell Baker. It’s an easy read, autobiography, so well-written, and thoroughly enjoyable. Good luck with surgery.

I have a few books to recommend, one of them by one of our very own...LS. (his book might be well suited to picking up and putting down!)

I recommend the following:

“The Aviators” by Winston Groom. It is about three of the most influential American aviators not named “Wright”. It is about Eddie Rickenbacker, Charles Lindbergh, and Jimmy Doolittle. I just finished reading it again for the third time, it is an extremely entertaining read, and highly informative. Lots of history about those men I was unaware of.

“No True Glory” by Bing West. This is about the battle for Fallujah, and any time you are feeling somewhat low about the quality of the snowflakes who might be called on to defend us, this give you hope because these are men who comported themselves with the best we have ever had in uniform, and fought a vicious battle against fanatical defenders. Great read!

“A Patriot’s History of The United States” by Larry Schweikart. Not because LS is one of us (though that is a positive thing) but it is readable, well presented, and can be skipped around in. You can read a piece of one chapter, go two thirds of the way into the book and read another. You can put it down and pick it up. Great book for anyone, but most of all, a Freeper!

If you haven’t already read it, I recommend Chuck Yeager’s autobiography. It’s interesting, upbeat, and an easy read. It came out sometime in the mid 1980s.

I recently finished reading “With the Old Breed; At Peleliu and Okinawa” by E.B. Sledge. Excellent first hand account of the war in the Pacific in WW2. It is available on Kindle.

Collateral Crimes

Valdo Esposito is a hit man with a gambling problem. In need of cash, he contracts with erratic ATF Agent James Roberts for what turns out to be a gun running operation, but Roberts insists upon controlling every detail of the operation, needlessly complicating what should be a simple crime.

Jonathan Starker is a highly successful graphic novelist who needs to get to Phoenix to speak at a comic book convention, but his fear of flying forces him to find other means of transportation, putting him on a collision course with the gun runners and flinging him into a real-life adventure filled with cliff-hanging predicaments in a strange environment.

In the midst of the chaos, Jonathan encounters gutsy Internet journalist Jessenia “Jesse” Conrad who helps him find his way through the mess, all the while scheming to parlay the inside scoop of their exploits into a blockbuster news story. Complications arise when Jonathan finds himself becoming attracted to Jesse.

In the end, Jonathan must learn to grow up and fight for his life.
