I had to take a bioEthics course at Berkeley:
Of course everyone there was liberal as all hell.
There was this one guy who like me was super quiet but tended to score high.
One day the topic of Barbara Walters for some reason was lightly touched on, the guy suddenly piped up, “She’s not the brightest bulb and she can’t even say her own name —she says BABA WAH-WAH..”
Instantly I knew that like me he was a DittoHead and I exploded in laughing recognition.
“She never says that..!” the Prof protested.
I instantly jumped in, admonishing that I’d heard her say it 1,000 times, and our Rush Limbaugh-loving eyes locked for a moment of mutual recognition and respect.
We never talked it out, but later I noticed we were always jumping in and defending one another after that.
I’m a state certified mediator. I enjoy doing half a day of volunteer mediating a month. It gets me out of the house. LOL But I have to do six hours of training a year and today I did 3 hours because it was free. Restorative Justice and the second half was about some wacko who figured out the levels of moral relativism but was an atheist and then killed himself. Early in the afternoon there was a woman at the next table who started making political statements and doing the whole cheer leader thing when the presenter (who actually was not too bad) said something remotely left wing (like too many blacks in prison). The second time she did it... I turned to her, held out my hand like I was telling my dog to sit and then motioned the presenter to go ahead. It worked. I still have the power even though I’ve been retired for 18 months. hehe....
