A solution for healthcare for all.
Vanity ^ | 11/30/2016 | self

I would like to put forward a comprehensive solution to heath care in this country. I invite fierce peer review because I'm just a Freeper like you. I have no apparition of truth. And, from this, many smarter than I, can build. I just see this working.

Let's start with obamacare. Gone!! Let's then go to the VA-Gone!! Slate clean. We go back to normal health insurance risk pools with cross state line bidding. But we are going to provide for all Americans. The preexisting condition folks ( like me) and those that can't afford free enterprise health care. We must pay the Doctors system fairly. We must never provide for illegal aliens except in ER. 1. Go back to the free enterprise profit oriented system of risk loss analyses. But add cross state lines insurance company bidding . If that is what you want-- BUY it! 2. For pre-existing conditions and poor-- "public option" . 3. Disband VA health care system . Replace with medicare day one from honorable discharge. If you are a real combat zone veteran , you never pay the medicare monthly premium-- ever. If you have served this country in non combat , you pay the same premium the senior Americans do but you start on honorable discharge if you so choose. You can opt out and later opt in. Note that all Veterans get the Doctor they choose all of the times!! 4. Now we take the VA infrastructure and convert to "public option". Salaried Doctors. no law suit-- no malpractice insurance -- replaced with a fair claims process for malpractice, NO COURT!! -- Binding Arbitration,. We use bulk purchased drugs and supplies. Now add this -- quality care !! real high dollar quality. We are all AMERICANS!!-- we just saved a trillion on infrastructure! . No more bureaucratic crap. In fact ,you can privatize elements to people who can be FIRED!! I apologize for vanity . I do not apologize for these ideas in the prayer filled hope that they will further the discussion. Thank you Jim.

Disabled veterans rated over 50% pay nothing at all currently, whether wartime or peacetime.

if you took lawyers and nearly unlimited liability out of medicine and business in general, there would be an explosion of jobs and riches in this country.

Illegals go to ER for just about anything short of a cold or headache.

Illegals need to pay for er. Right now most use the er as their normal healthcare system. Lots of places have shut down their er centers because of illegals swamping it. This would have them all use er as normal healthcare.

My plan is simpler. Remove the government entirely from the field of Medicine and of Insurance. None of it is provided in the Constitution. The only government “health” function provided for in the Constitution is to guarantee weights and measures. Costs would plummet. Access would expand greatly. Medical and insurance costs would not drain the middle class.

A srtart: But add catastrophic care - starting at say 15,000.00 per person per year, 25,000.00 per family per year max out-of-pocket for example.

Then, CHARGE for the basic ER and ER-instead-of-doctor’s office/24-hour urgent care to the person’s HSA.

Allow HSA unlimited deposits per year with maybe a 10,000.00 per year tax-free maximum into the Life Savings Account, but allow all health care and other withdrawals to be [ulled from the HSA/LSA after age 60.

Include ending the endless monopolies in pharmaceuticals, and I'm on board. I take a drug for cancer that my copay, at $109 a month, is more than people in most countries pay to just buy it outright ($35-$50), but it is illegal for me to buy it somewhere else and bring it home with me. Oh, and, it's made in India.

Also i do not believe anyone must be forced to have it. If they dont have it they pay out of pocket. They can start their gofundme campaigns.

I could buy that too, but we have to enforce the anti-trust laws.

One of the problems we had before Obamacare was that most health insurance was provided by the employer, not picked by individual. This is a result of bias in the tax code.

That means less competition and no portability. The individual insurance market was very small and you couldn’t get plans from other states. Obamacare just made it worse

And just what does a free market have to do with Anti Trust?
Monopolies(and cartels) can grow in only two ways. A monopoly works just as hard to keep its costs low and its quality high as if it were in intense competition and thus no one else sees any profit in entering the market or it is protected by government. In the first case the fact that there is only one source for a product is irrelevant. The “monopoly” does not have price power. If it raises its prices to a level that permits someone else to see a chance for profit then the monopoly ceases to be. In other words it is not really a monopoly. In the second case the government restrains trade and hampers the market for the benefit of one company so that it can charge higher prices than a competitive market would warrant and does not have to keep quality high. The Trusts, as with any cartel, only retain power so long as they have political protection. The larger the government the more opportunity there is for the purchase of protection.

Crossing state lines is a mistake. Some states have an industry in malpractice. Mississippi, fer instance.

Salaried doctors? Another mistake. If I get paid the same for seeing 15 or 25 patients wanna guess how many I will see?

Thanks Mr. Cook. I appreciate that. You appear to be the only one but Ill take it. I got a personal email this evening that seemed to indicate that this might get serious review. We have to put up or shut up and cover all bases or we lose power. I don’t want to lose power for the movement. If we do things right the Democrats go out of existent. Thanks again.
