I never gave a testimony to a stranger. But recently, I started carrying at least a few dollars in cash so that I can try to initiate the conversation.
The last time I was asked for money, it was a guy in a grocery store parking lot. He had his hood open and claimed he needed to buy transmission fluid. I thought that was total bologna, but gave him the money anyway.
I look at it like this: How do we KNOW whether or not the person asking for help is legit? I would rather err on the side of giving a helping hand rather than turn away someone who perhaps is really in need. Of course our Me, Me, Me society would readily disagree. What goes around comes around.
