How many jobs for how many years,at what wage level does Tesla provide?

It appears that NY has spent 3/8 of the total value of SolarCity!

Such a deal! Musk gets 3/4 of his plant paid for by the most generous tax payers!

This will all eventually link up to Reid’s incestuous scams with Elon Musk and Warren Buffett in Nevada. I hope to write a book on some of this.

Solar in Buffalo? How’s that going to work in the winter with their roofs loaded with a few feet of snow? the muskateer has proved himself a brilliant shyster at taxpayer expense, but we already knew that.

SolarCity officials recently reported that the gigafactory is nearly 90 percent complete and that it hopes to start installing equipment this summer. “Manufacturing is scheduled to begin in 2017,” Rive said. “SolarCity has committed to employ at least 1,460 people in the city of Buffalo, with 500 jobs at the manufacturing facility. We will employ a total of 5,000 people in New York state by the 10th anniversary of the completion of the facility.”

If my ciphering is close that is about a HALF MILLION PER JOB. 750MM/1460= 500K

In ten years Musk will own most of NY State. If he is still around.

True!

Solar cells can work well in up state NY.
They cannot lay flat, need some angle to minimize buildup.

They pulled a stunt like that n Greenville, Mi. Solar Ovonics

They ran production on solar shingles and film. I think they ran about 3-4 years at most. A big Gov.Jenny Grandstand (Granholm) PR blitz and such.

Now 10 years after the fact the Solar Plant evacuated and an Auto Wheel maker is in the building.

Local, Country and State taxes were used and never recuperated.

We always get screwed. The US Attorney has indicted 5 or 6 of Cuomos insiders on this deal for all kinds of charges including bid rigging. Most predict this company will not hire anyone and this will be a million sq ft empty bldg.

I am at just a bit more northerly latitude with my panels inclined at 39 degrees up from horizontal and the output is next to useless in December and January even with clean panels. At best there is a period of only two hours around noon when the sun is in a productive position. And that is only on the occasional clear day without clouds and/or fog. June and July are a different matter.

A solar cell factory in Buffalo, New York?

We’re supposed to laugh, right?

Buffalo is on the Canadian border (so, low angle sunlight nine months a year), and it gets 112 inches of snow in the winter.

Manufacturing cells there, not using them.

That’s not bid rigging!

The design specifications were very well written, nothing unusual.

Not their fault only one bidder could comply.

Years back (80’s) a friend had put up some PV panels.

He would change the angle, summer/winter, very steep in the winter. I never saw snow on them?

Long term they did not work out, but newer is better?

Re: “Manufacturing cells there, not using them.”

Agree.

But, usually, a business tries to locate as close as possible to its best customers.

I assume it located in Buffalo because Buffalo offered the best subsidies, which means New York state taxpayers are the company’s best customers.

If customers are largely in state, then the money is just getting circulated; that doesn’t help a state hemorrhaging cash. NY, being desperate to import cash, is encouraging a business which will bring in a lot of out of state money.
