Great development... the foreign-sponsored jihadi headchoppers’ day of reckoning has come.
Cue the neocon chickenhawk whining about eeevil Assad and Shia forces and eeevil Russians.
It is not ISIS that is being defeated there, but rather al Queda and a few other “moderate” rebel factions - a different witches brew of jihadis.
Pushing them out from the Northern part of their enclave should finally relieve the Kurdish neighborhood of Sheik Massoud which had suffered a bunch of jihadi attacks.
There has been a significant pickup in activity in Eastern Aleppo, in a coordinated operation, which had been planned for months. The Iranians mustered about 5,000 new troops (including new mercenaries recruited from Shia populations in the region, but some better front-line units as well), and the Russians have laid on an increased air and artillery campaign.
Some estimate about 8,000 jihadis left in Eastern Aleppo. The regime and their allies will likely keep the pressure on them, inflicting casualties, and corralling them into smaller parts of the city. Ammo resupply will become a bigger problem for the jihadis, as they are surrounded, and are burning through their stocks under this pressure.
The best hope for the jihadis would be for their patrons the Turks to either break through to relieve them (unlikely), or cut a deal to allow them safe passage out of the area (common in the region).
Realistically, those jihadis seem doomed there. They could collapse at any time, but it will probably take at least a month or two more of this kind of high pressure.

I think that NOW is the time for McCain & Grahamnesty to go to Aleppo to stand with THEIR Islamist “rebel” clients.
