Fred Akers was 86-31-2 at Texas, the 9th best coach all-time with a 73% record, not 80%+. Darrell Royal and Mack Brown were at 77.4% and 76.7% respectively.

Charlie Strong was a HORRIBLE game day coach. It was maddening to watch the poor game management all season. I don't care if he had rainbow colored skin, he was in way over his head at Texas. His weekly press conferences were painful to watch - I just don't think he is a smart man. Worst all-time record in Texas history, at 43.2%. It's great his players love him, but getting wins with at least a fairly clean squad is the primary metric at UT, as it should be.

Fred Akers.... Ugh. Couldn’t win a bowl game. Couldn’t bear Notre Dame with Earl Campbell in the backfield.

I was glad to see him go.

IMO. Texas needs a new AD as well. Time to bring Mack back as AD, with Herman as his coach.

I agree with everything you said. And, thanks for correcting my percentage guestimate.
