Do I need to look?
Business inventory is not scrap metal.
Good Lord! This sounds like something out of the Great Depression. Or the Obama economy.
Is it possible to restore honorable work to America?
Cop should just say he was donating some lead to the cause
They were not stealing scrap metal.
They were stealing objects made of metal that they intended to sell as "scrap".
The article makes it sound like they were dumpster diving, they weren't.
Shooting might be a little harsh in all cases but can we bring back public flogging?
Fxxking IDIOT!!!
Stealing scrap metal or merchandise has nothing to do with the scum bag getting shot in the shoulder, the turkey shot at the officers first, you can’t fix stupid.
It was for a school project! Don't you mean-old right-wing deplorables want blacks to learn about the Industrial Revolution?
Unless the scrap metal was gold, I’m not going to take a bullet for a pound of copper worth $2.40.
Stealing scrap is huge.
One neighborhood near where I work has a city ordinance that the houses must have copper gutters as it is a historic neighborhood.
Guess who is always getting their gutters ripped down?
Vacant houses? Copper wiring all taken out. New houses? copper stripped out.
Broke down on the side of the road? Better not leave it there. Someone will hook up to it the minute you are gone and take it to an unscrupulous scrapper who will pay cash no questions asked.
Yeah, there is money is metal.
Copper thieves are yuge business here in western Washington. We’ve had crews sporting official-looking service trucks rip down miles of wire - sometimes live. A few years ago we had two unfortunate dimwits try to rip out the copper from street lights in the median of Interstate 5. One of them burned to death - in full view of commuters right at rush-hour.
The cops and the metal-scavengers in my city have a very unofficial agreement because the economy is so rotten that average people have taken to scrapping just to pay rent. Keep it quiet, don’t scrap from an active business/factory (tons of abandoned places around here) and immediately run off with your hands in plain sight when challenged.
In return for that you’re put way down on the list of priorities, down with people ‘stealing’ empty cans from recycle bins. (they are considered city property. seriously). But if you even LOOK like you’re going for a weapon that whole deal is off. If you’re holding a tool in your hand, drop it pronto.
“You’ll never take me alive, Copper!”
