A group of young, would-be burglars jumped the fence at their intended victim's house, but apparently didn't account for what awaited them on the other side.

Homeowner, Joann Mendenhall said someone breaking into her back yard would normally be no laughing matter, but she had a little chuckle seeing suspects run from her back yard.

"They were gone like a streak of lightning," Mendenhall said.

.
BS!

Bees are usually docile, and rarely to be concerned with.

It shouldn’t be hard to identify the suspect at the local hospital.

If you read the article one of them landed on top of a hive.

In Upstate New York, it gets cold at night, and bees get less active.

If it’s at least 60 or 70 degrees out and you land on a hive expect to get stung.

If it’s 40 or 50, you would probably be fine.

I've always thought bees were more aggressive in late fall due to the fermented fruit lying around. They're mean drunks, apparently.

I have stood on hives to paint the eaves of a house.

I’ve never been stung near a hive.

We have numerous swarms, every year, and nobody gets stung.

Most of the stuff you hear about bees is hype.

Makes for great stories.

Yes, bees are normally rather docile, but they hit the hive and knocked it over. Thy that on your own hive and see how agitated they become.

We have numerous swarms, every year, and nobody gets stung.

A swarm is when the queen leaves the hive and about half the bees go with her. You can pick up a swarm in your bare hands, put the queen in a box and the rest of the bees will come to her.

The problem is when they are protecting brood, and are disturbed. My understanding is that bears go after the brood, not honey. The brood is protein. Bees go to the bears face which is exhaling carbon dioxide.

The gentleman in the photo has a queen bee, probably around his neck. There is no hive to defend.

Wasps are NOT bees, and yes, WASPS are meaner when drunk.

I love bees! But would never have the courage to do that.

I am sleeping peacefully in my little bee bed when a huge monster crashes though my roof.

He might get stung but at the least I am going to be highly startled and take to the air.

Since just bees flying around seems to send some people into screaming hysterics I am betting the result would be roll on the ground funny,

Wasps have guards at their nest that always attack, but the ones that go out and forage are not aggressive at all, just really annoying at a BBQ.

We haven’t lost a swarm for several years. They just find a convenient oak tree in the yard and make a new hive.

You might say the homeowner set up a sting operation.

From early spring until late July I am on the constant hunt for wasp/hornet nests, as I am sensitive to their venom. I ensure there are no nests on my property, and I check my neighbour’s places too, with their permission. No nests within probably 400 feet of my house.

I’d like you to explain your theory about wasp aggression to the foraging yellow jackets that invade my hummingbird feeders and both decks from late August until mid September.

They are NASTY little beggars! Especially when the fruit trees haven’t been picked clean...
