The FBI hate crimes statistics for 2015 are out, and the establishment propaganda media is using them to create the impression of some massive increase of violent “Islamophobia” in America:

Today my local paper (The Seattle Times) ran a story about an alleged hate crime committed against some Muslim women by a “Trump supporter.” The article also cited the 2015 increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes, and mentioned the number of crimes as 5,850. That looked WAY off to me, because I know that in most years the figure is between 100 and 200. The article referenced here at FR gives a figure of 257, which is consistent with a 67% increase over 2014, which recorded 178. I don’t know where the Times got its crap statistics from.

I think one of the reasons they don't like to mention the twice-as-big number for anti-Jewish hate crimes is that it will lead people to the next logical question... who is committing all these anti-Jewish hate crimes? (uncomfortable answer: probably at least some Muslims involved there.)

Small changes in small data sets can create misleading statistics. If hate crimes go from 2 a year to 3 a year, you could see a headline saying “Hate crimes increase 50%.” In the case of Muslim hate crimes, they went from 178 to 257. Even the higher figure means that only about one of every million Americans aged 12-100 committed an anti-Muslim hate crime, and most of those crimes were graffiti, vandalism, or vocal harassment, not aggravated assault or murder.

I suspect that a large portion of those hate crimes are by muslims but still counted as against them.

I since discovered that The Seattle Times writer mistook the total hate crimes for ALL categories and applied it to anti-MUSLIM hate crimes. I did that by following the link to one of her source stories. Since I follow hate crime stats from time to time, I instantly knew her figure was way off, by a factor of about 2400%. Apparently none of the professional journalists at the Times noticed the way-too-high figure, since it probably accords with their biased expectations.
