Peter, Paul and Mary; Leaving on a jet plane
The problem is they keep threatening to leave, but they don’t leave.
Another great version that song from the Kendalls, a father, daughter, Country Music duo from the 1970s:

That child molesting Peter Yarrow was on NPR bleating about the Trump victory.
A real NPR role model.

Now the election’s over, Our Donald should change his theme song from “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, to “Playing With Fire” !:)
“The problem is they keep threatening to leave, but they dont leave.”
The problem is they keep threatening to go to Canada. Best they don’t leave. (I’m fine with them going to Mexico though.)
Written by John Denver. I was in the Air Force when this song was popular. It has special meaning for me.
I was going to point out that it was a John Denver song as well. Instead, I'll post a JD version of the song from youtube as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLBKOcUbHR0.
John Denver was a childhood hero of mine. I used to play his songs on the guitar all the time.
The threat to leave generally goes to the threat of going to Canada or New Zealand, two of the ‘whitest’ countries in the world. Why not go to Kenya or Mexico? These duplicitous people of privilege need to keep their mouth shut or move where people of color live.....and they need to go by a wind driven boat.
When I heard that song I was headed for Vietnam & imagined PP&M leaving on a jet plane - for Hanoi. Their politics were already way out in left field.
A few months later Jane Fonda did exactly that. I was in country at the time. Heard her broadcasts calling us babykillers & war criminals just for carrying out our orders.
But when Fonda called the returning POWS “hypocrites and liars” when they described torture by the North Vietnamese, that sealed my blackest hatred of her forever.
Hoping that Jane Fonda dies by the hand of a homeless Vietnam vet.
Nah, Marty Robbins “Big Iron’’.
That’ll work!!
Like John Denver’s version.
