A huge vote in the non-beltway part of the state is enough to overcome their voting. Do I remember that correctly?
Not in most recent years. Dems usually get Norfolk, Richmond, Portsmouth, Roanoke, and Hampton and Newport News. The rest of the state is pretty solidly red but this year may be different. Black vote is not as solid or motivated as the last two cycles. Virginia Beach is my home and still the largest city in the state and still solidly conservative. Trump will win big in VB. Trump has a shot but a big hurdle still.
